Rose is an award-winning communications pro. Career highlights include serving as a speechwriter and coach for the Secretary of Defense, 4-star generals, Members of Congress, CEOs, and nationally-recognized journalists.

She served 24 years in the Air Force, including 6 at the Pentagon. Rose’s work has been quoted in the New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times, and USA Today. Her speeches have reached international audiences in Taiwan, Russia, Hungary, Belgium, Mexico, Colombia, Estonia, Macedonia, and Kosovo among others.

Rose is the author of Border Confluences (University of Arizona Press, 2004). She earned a doctorate from Arizona State University, master’s degrees from Harvard University and the Univ. of California/Riverside (Screenwriting), and a bachelor’s from the US Air Force Academy. She was recently completed The Veterans Writing Project, a mentorship program run by the Writers Guild Foundation.

Rose serves on the Advisory Board of the Professional Speechwriters Association, a worldwide network of leadership communication pros. She also co-founded Rose City Hockey Club, a nonprofit to teach girls ages 5-18 about the game she loves (and still plays!).

She currently lives in Portland, OR, with her wife and their shy cat, Harley.
