Rosemary King, Ph.D.

An award-winning communications professional, Rose has served as a speechwriter and speech coach for national leaders in the charitable community, across the private sector, and at the highest levels of government. Career highlights include serving as a speechwriter for the Secretary of Defense, 4-star generals, Members of Congress, CEOs, and nationally-recognized journalists.

She served 24 years in the Air Force, including 6 at the Pentagon. Rose’s work has been quoted in the New York Times, Washington Post, Financial Times, and USA Today. Her speeches have reached international audiences in Taiwan, Russia, Hungary, Belgium, Mexico, Colombia, Estonia, Macedonia, and Kosovo among others.

Rose is the author of Border Confluences (University of Arizona Press, 2004) and numerous literary articles and book reviews. She graduated from Arizona State University with a doctorate in English, Harvard University with a master’s degree in English, and the US Air Force Academy with a bachelor's degree in Political Science.

Rose serves on the Advisory Board of the Professional Speechwriters Association, a worldwide network of leadership communication professionals. She is also on the Board of Directors of Rose City Hockey Club, a nonprofit she co-founded in 2013 for girls ages 5-18.

She currently lives in Portland, OR, with her spouse and their feisty cat, Piper. In her free time, she’s learning to become a screenwriter and playwright.
